Roads, being the important infrastructure for the development of an area, can be classified into cement roads, black top roads metalled and un-metalled roads. In Nellore district, out of the total road length of 3705506 kms. the first two types of roads constitute only 1273866 kms Metalled roads, account for 1073080 and un-metalled roads about 1358560 kms., these two being mainly village roads. The district is well connected by rail and road transports. Nellore, is one of the important railway station on the Waltair-Madras broad gauge line. the district has a numbers of buses connecting all important places within and beyond the district, including Madras and Hyderabad.
